Dear fedi, I’m thinking on replacing some #networking hardware at my place. I need an #AccessPoint and another piece working as a #WiFi6 client for 2 PCs and a SteamLink, no need for mesh.

Considering
• GL.iNet Flint 2 for the AP,
• #Mikrotik hAP ax² for the client.

Does this look OK? Other options worth considering? I like that #GLiNet uses #OpenWRT.

#Router

Could also buy PCIe wireless cards for the PCs instead of the client and do everything wirelessly… but I think I’d rather keep PC–SteamLink connection wired (and lower the total num. of wireless clients in the network as a side effect too).
Heh, seems #Mikrotik doesn’t do WDS wireless bridging with #OpenWRT. So if I buy it I’ll be left with a “pseudobridge” doing MAC translation (a bridge on IP layer but doing additional lookup work on the link layer). No idea how much this hurts performance but doesn’t sound so good…
