Thanks to #JAWS Picture Smart AI, I am able to complete some questions in my User Experience Design course that lack any description. #NVDA has a couple of addons that can do this, but the JAWS feature allows me to drill down to specific page elements. #accessibility #Vispero
@menelion @darrell73 So do the NVDA offerings. AIContentDescriber + object navigation + describe current navigator object action in the given addon
@zersiax @menelion Yep. But, unless I'm missing something, they describe the entire screen, but instead I want detail specifically on one single element. I know Vision Assistant Pro doesn't do that...
@darrell73 @menelion There is an option to describe the entire screen, yes, but AIContentDescriber specifically also has a script to describe the navigator object, which can be just a single element. I use this all the time to look at images in WhatsApp for example
@zersiax @menelion OK. So I downloaded and installed AI Content Describer and restarted NVDA. It offered to download dependencies, then said they're unavailable. Please let me know if you installed this a different way or from another source.
@darrell73 @menelion Wait ... the dependencies are unavailable? No, I did not run into that. I installed it a week ago and it worked fine. Hang on let me see if I can zip em up for you somehow
@zersiax @darrell73 @menelion I think the dependencies for 26.x aren't available yet. I accidentally deleted mine when I moved over to this new laptop.
@ppatel @darrell73 @menelion to be fair 2026.x isn't officially out yet so that makes sense. Stable worked fine when I tried it and I'm honestly a lil nervous about how many addons 2026.x is going to break...
@zersiax @darrell73 @menelion Most of the ones I have are working fine so far with compatibility switched on. Getting developers to change the manifest will be the key.
@darrell73 @menelion huh. From what I'm seeing it should work unless you're already on NVDA 2026.something, are you on a beta/alpha?
@darrell73 @zersiax @menelion I had this happen and it apparently was something to do with certificates.
@zersiax @menelion Ah. I just realized you referred to AIDescriber which is not what I have. I'll give that a try. Thanks.
