It's been a wild Q1 ... incredible client work, a few highlights on the book front, and an unplanned website migration (which took me down the Claude Code rabbithole after 25 years away from coding -- my oh my how times have changed).
✨ I've always said that if I don't train agents on my IP someone else will ... and they are.
So I'm finally building a few (secure, bespoke) AI-assisted workflows into my client work after hearing from a shocking percentage of employees at client orgs that they're using personal GPT accounts to support their OKR efforts because they don't have corp access. EEP.
✨ I'm not an unqualified genAI stan ... I was a hold-out for ethical reasons, and, I also see the ways that well-designed agents can serve as assistive technology to help level the playing field for people who have support needs. Some of my friends and industry collaborators aren't going to like what I have to say about genAI -- but deployed responsibly (and always seeking more ethically-trained, environmentally-conscious models) --
... the potential benefits around executive functioning support alone are enormous. That's mission-adjacent, not my actual day-job -- but there are some use cases I'm excited to share about.
✨ Last ... perhaps the biggest improvement I've been able to implement for clients thanks to the tech that's available now that hasn't been is how practical it is to build the information design views that I've always wanted to create --
sankeys, instant progress dashboards based on disparate data sources that update themselves -- the visual display of information I've always designed, spent days fighting excel or another analytics package to create, and ultimately failing at ... now they're a 15 minute job in Claude Code (plus a 30 minute audit to make sure the analysis is done accurately).
