If you have not been blessed with them yet, let me induct you to the cult of Angine de Poitrine: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Ssi-9wS1so

They’re the first (only?) thing of 2026* that actually makes sense and makes me feel human and alive again.

*I know they’ve been around for a while, but they are gaining popularity since the above video dropped a month ago.

Angine de Poitrine - Full Performance (Live on KEXP)

YouTube
@janl reminds me a lot of the energy of Zappa, or Primus, or GWAR when I first saw them
@wohali yup, I have it at Daft Punk meets Primus meets Dada
@janl — What I loved was how on first watch I was like “this is objectively amazing but I’d never listen to this”, then 2 weeks later I put it on the kitchen and Ciara and I are bopping along to microtones with the boys like we’ve been hearing music like this our whole lives. 😛
@janl Been obsessed for weeks now!
@janl I'm usually not a fan of really komplex time signatures and microtonal stuff, but their music is oddly accessible. I'm still trying to figure out why that is. My first guesses are that despite the obvious virtuosity and the musical complexity, they are still somewhat simple to understand songs with a ton of energy. And, the music, despite the microtonality, still is very musical, funky actually. It does not try to be "difficult" for the sake of art, I guess.
@janl I discovered them yesterday, can't believe that this exists. Just incredible stuff.

@janl "makes sense" -> that's a strong statement! I think it makes about as much sense as anything else that's happening, but has the advantage of not being actively malicious to some demographic or another, which is a very strong plus!

These guys are not really my taste, but they are great!

The comments on that video are perfect.

@wez yeah that captures it well :)
@janl that’s the first microtone double necked bass/guitar I’ve ever seen
@janl thank you for introducing me to this, instantly my new favourite thing
