Tinkering with some #VR gaming and was able to get it working with my #Debian mini PC by just pulling an updated version of mesa from the stable backports repo. But, it didn't work on #ChimeraOS, which hasn't seen an update since last June. So I've converted the new #gaming PC to #Bazzite and streaming VR games wirelessly to my Meta Quest 2 headset with the Steam Link app seems to work fine. It's a little flaky at times, but seems to work best in desktop mode.
@gerowen i would suggest talking more about various game servers people can serve up - instead of being locked in to steam sort of take opposite approach? worth considering some things, likely

@gary_alderson I guess I don't post about it much, but I do frequent other gaming services. I've bought a number of games from GoG and am a big supporter of emulation. I like the fact that GoG gives you DRM free downloads and any time I buy a game from them, even if I install it thru something like Heroic, I also keep an archived backup copy on my home server.

But Valve does do a lot of good work for gaming on Linux, and their new big picture mode is great for controller first couch gaming.

@gerowen notable gaming comments from somebody who knows, i don't. i do know pc gaming has taken a hit from ai and some consolidation was probably needed to protect from piracy, games are getting better, dlss 5 seems to work and have some support from devs
