#SFC's at #SCaLE2026! Again our booth — Network Sponsor¹ — is up front (Thank you, #SCaLE organizers!) — next to all the #BigTech wealthy megacorps who likely spend more on their booths for 1 event than SFC's annual budget.
#Microsoft isn't satisfied w/ just the space they paid for though: They are giving away bouncy light-up balls & have decided to regularly block the common area in front of our booth to demo their balls.
I give them credit for finding a new way to embrace, extend & extinguish.

#Microsoft encroachment & cooption of FOSS continues at #SCaLE2026. $MSFT has now blocked access in all common areas that reach #SoftwareFreedom Conservancy's booth.

This continued for 10 minutes while $MSFT raffled off proprietary products. (Must be present at the booth to win).

It's consistent with the bad behavior Microsoft's engaged in for decades – just fascinating to see them literally & physically gather people to keep others away for #FOSS. That's a new one.

While the over-presence of #Microsoft at #SCaLE2026 was painful — from blocking all access to the trade show floor and SFC booth with multiple “must be present to win” raffles & a purchased keynote, I do think the #SCaLE organizers listened to feedback, and I look forward to changes on this issues next year.

Also, 👍 to SCaLE as it is one of the only conferences that puts no sponsor logos on the T-shirt! They are one of the very few conference shirts I'll wear outside the house b/c of that!

Sadly, I went to wear the #SCaLE2026 shirt on my flight today and found the neck is tighter in than past #SCaLE shirts. I wonder: did they change vendors?

It otherwise fits well and is beautiful.

@sandersch if anything, it's other way around.

My diabetes treatment (just Metformin , not a GLP1) has lead to lose 20 lbs in last year.

Not too tight, just too high for my tastes.
