GB News is the propaganda arm of Reform UK Ltd, giving the Fascist Frog & his colleagues a free run through or around media guidelines & restrictions on politically biased broadcasting.

The UK Govt. has the means to do something about this via OfCom but does not... leaving us to draw our own conclusions about the manner in which Reform is being allowed to reshape the UK's political landscape.

Enough is enough (and has been for some time!)

Screen scandal: How Ofcom lets GB News get away with it

SPECIAL INVESTIGATION: A channel constantly breaking the rules has effectively become Reform TV, while our useless state regulator does nothing

The New World
@ChrisMayLA6 I hope this isn’t wishful thinking but I think I detect early signs that Reform’s totally charmed existence is starting to get challenged. There’s a noticeable uptick in scrutiny from some quarters, although it is miles short of the questions that should be coming for a party that likes to portray itself as a government in waiting.

@christineburns @ChrisMayLA6

Heeeheee they are self combusting, but not fast enough, although the council leader who exploded, then had a meltdown, at being asked about how much his flags cost and how many potholes could have been repaired with it, was a delicious highlight.

@christineburns

I so hope you are right.... fingers crossed

@ChrisMayLA6 Between GBN and the BBC, Farage has had a very loud megaphone to blast his aural low tide and directly led us to Brexit and possibly a rebranded BNP being the leading party in England. Something most certainly needs to be done but with this rabble in charge it's unlikely they'd have done differently and might even envy him.

@nini

and what so dispiriting is that it gets him to two very different audiences.... and while we might say we'd expect nothing else from GBN, the BBC's actions/coverage have/has been disgraceful

@ChrisMayLA6 Gets both groups, dyed in the wool racists and centrists looking for someone outside the establishment though is a dyed in the wool racist establishment member.
@ChrisMayLA6 @nini While I am fundamentally well disposed towards the BBC, the extent to which they have platformed him and excluded politicians with an equal or better claim to democratic legitimacy is an enormous problem.
@ChrisMayLA6 Starmer sniffingly dismissed the question from Ed Davey. Not at the top of his agenda I guess, much like the student loans scandal. Is he spending too much time trying to plan the deployment of all 6 available vessels in the RN to keep the paedophile felon happy I wonder?
@ChrisMayLA6 I’ve always avoided GB News, figuring it was a right wing propaganda machine. The real disgrace here is Ofcom.

@zygous

yes, I think that's fair - GBNews should have been reined in some time ago, so there OfCom is to blame certainly... but equally I wouldn't want the lying & misrepresentations on GBN to be treated as just normal media practice

@ChrisMayLA6 That’s fair too. It’s no worse than I’d expect, including the pushing of boundaries when they’ve not been held to account, but you’re right it shouldn’t be normalised.
@ChrisMayLA6 @zygous Toothless regulators seems to be a recurring pattern across multiple industries; it seems like just another backwash effect of the original Tory privatisations.
I find it difficult to understand why Labour didn't just appoint more aggressive state regulators across the board. I wonder is that mainly for fiscal reasons or is it because it would hinder their attempts to court the right?
@kbm0 @ChrisMayLA6 I cynically assume it’s because it’s in some decision maker’s interest (£) to maintain the status quo.
@ChrisMayLA6 Not only that but the long winded process of complaints process at the BBC where Farage's lot have been given excessive coverage for more than 25 years (through various parties) before anybody can go to Ofcom, with a deny everything attitude at every stage.
@ChrisMayLA6 Propaganda works. The Nazis proved it. They even had a cabinet-level ministry for it.
