We have a device that pumps near-freezing water through pads for use instead of ice packs after surgery. It's been awesome, through nearly a dozen operations in our household. My wife, having just had some pretty major back surgery, was starting to take advantage of it when it broke. As in, puked icy water all over the house broke.

The manufacturer does not offer replacement parts; they consider this failure to be a buy-new-machine opportunity. 1/2

The failure was nothing more than 1/4" I.D. vinyl tubing. So I replaced that section of the unit. But it was one of the most miserable repairs I have every undertaken...the thing was clearly designed to prevent anyone getting their hands in there to repair or replace anything. I did it in the end, but with far too much bother, frustrations and (literally) blood.

I hate manufacturers like this. Ossur is the name. Great device, hateful company decisions about repair.

I also hacked up the cabinet so that Future Me can replace these bits in ten minutes when they fail next time.
