#TechIsShitDispatch
Every. Single. Day. We are forced to put up with shitty design, shitty quality, shitty service.
A couple years ago my wife and I bought a #ClassicKitchen hot water urn. Classic Kitchen is a boutique company which sells primarily to observant Jews, primarily products specifically designed to abide by Jewish law, e.g. hot water urns, like the one we bought, that can be used on the Sabbath and holidays. (1/5)
In our experience hot water urns intended for this market tend to fail frequently, so we bought an Asurian policy with the urn.
That paid off: a little over a year after we bought the urn it started leaking from the bottom, an obvious indication of either shitty design or shitty quality. We filed a claim with Asurion, and they paid most of the cost of replacing the urn with a new, identical one. We bought insurance for that one too. (2/5)
There was a lot wrong with the replacement from the start. We could hear pieces rattling around inside it, and the water that came out of it tasted weird even after we cleaned the urn, occasionally we would find little pieces of plastic FLOATING IN THE WATER, and it started leaking slightly shortly after we got it. Ridiculous.
I attempted to email Classic Kitchen about the problems. The email bounced. 😡 (3/5)
I don't remember whether I tried to reach them by phone or just gave up and decided to live with the urn as is. My wife refused to use it, so we bought a second, smaller urn for her. Seriously.
Today, four days before the one-year anniversary of our purchasing this urn, it has started leaking so badly that it is no longer usable. (4/5)
Fuck this noise. I've once again emailed Classic Kitchen, telling them what I think of their shitty urns (I did not actually use the word "shitty" in my email, but I certainly wanted to) and demanding a replacement. So far, at least, that email hasn't bounced. We'll see what happens. (5/5)
It comes as no surprise to me that the email I sent #ClassicKitchen five days ago about their shitty broken urn just bounced because the mail server couldn't deliver it for five days.
Upon further investigation I think the website I got that email address from, https://classickitchen.org/, may be a fraudulent site impersonating the brand.
I found another email address for the company on the urn's instructions, and I've attempted to email that address. We'll see if I get a response to that one.
