hey so um on ios are we all using the wafrn app or a mobile browser? because well. see screenshot

i dont like the look of the app (loudish color scheme + textual clutter + is cut off at the bottom dimensionswise on my phone + 'notification permissions not granted' annoyance persisting) so i came to mobile browser for its sweet sweet minimalism but now uh

Woah thats a bug that happens in old browsers that do not support some important features for us. What browser and version are you using?
What version of ios in particular?

DuckDuckGo 7.211.0.1
Firefox 148.3 (68946)
Firefox Focus 148.2 (68622)

iOS 16.7.14 ["""old""" phone]

Hmm ios 16 shouldnt be that old.

The app should work fine on your phone tho!

Either that or check the themes. Some of them do hardcode stuff and should fix the issue

Hi! Creator of the app here! Ping me if you need anything

damn you must have a REALLY old browser, try selecting the "fan" or "wafrn98" themes if you can't update your browser (or operating system); they have their colours hard-coded and shouldn't have this issue

(themes are at the bottom of the sidebar with the paint palette icon, if you can manage to navigate there when it's like this)

my browsers are updated says the app store. and my iOS (16.7.15) wont update to another major version for probly a while given my phone but its not that old(?…). fan theme shares the fuckiness; wafrn98 and Dracula are the only two that seem to work. so am i stuck like this then? gosh i wish i had a better idea of why its like this for me; its not like other websites break on my phone

it has to do with detection of dark mode and some css mising features on that regard probably.

we are using "too new" features to be honest

basically we use a feature called light-dark() that lets us set one colour to have two values, one for light and one for dark theme

browsers that don't support this (usually cuz they're too old) don't know what to do with this, and then fall back to transparent, which is how you end up with that fucky UI

we really ought to add a proper "fallback" theme eventually.

https://codeberg.org/wafrn/wafrn/issues/589

I'll try doing it later today

Proper fallback theme

making this issue to track progress on a proper "fallback" theme for old browsers

Codeberg.org
Yes, that should be exactly it. On light mode it adds a light screen to the star background, and on dark mode the text is white.

that is the cause and we would love your help debugging the issue but it would be we asking you to check stuff and aaaaaa
