When I said #PicoGUS wasn’t being left behind, I wasnt joking! This is a regular ol’ PicoGUS being a Sound Blaster 16, detected and working in Windows 98:
The eagle eyed among you may notice two PicoGeese plugged into the computer. This is because I ported over the bus analyzer idea from PicoIDE over to PicoGUS. Here’s a post-processed capture of the PicoGUS being detected as an SB16:

@polpo nifty…

Granted, I do like the #PicoGUS because unlike the #Wee86 / #WeeCee by @rasteri it doesn't rely on new old stock of #CS4237B / #CS4237 sound chips, making it a more longerm-sustainable option

  • And having alternate options is important!
@kkarhan @rasteri Yeah, I love having the option of "real hardware" when it's possible. In fact despite making device emulators I like using vintage hardware whenever possible 😅

@polpo Same, but I guess you'd not have started the #PicoGUS project (nor would've @rasteri done the #Wee86 & #WeeCee) if that was always the option.
