Condemned Jews Blow Themselves Up
LONDON, Tues. - Meyer Feinstein and Moshe Barazani, two Jewish terrorists who were under sentence of death after having lodged appeals for clem-ency on the eve of their exe-cution blew themselves up in Jerusalem Central Prison last night.
The men, defying their guards. blew themselves up a few minutes after the last rites had been administered by Rabbi Jacob Goldman who, according to a British United Press correspon-dent, was immediately taken to police headquarters.
Goldman is the Jewish chaplain to Palestine prisons.
An official statement says that the men, who were to have been executed before dawn today, committed suicide by blowing themselves to pieces.
Feinstein was sentenced for his part in the bomb outrage at Jeru-salem Railway Station in October, 1946, and Barazani for carrying a hand grenade in March, 1947.
According to a British United Press correspondent, police later reported that the two men blew themselves to pieces with hand grenades, but it is not yet known how they obtained them.
The correspondent adds that Feinstein and Barazani are reported to have inscribed on the walls of their cell before suicid-ing, the Biblical words, "Mene mene tekel upharsin", which are mentioned in the Book of Daniel chapter 5, verse 25.
