The #AlbigensianCrusade (1209–1229) was over, but the #Cathar faith remained, and a group held out against a nine-month #SiegeOfMontségur, which ended on #ThisDayInHistory in 1244. A large wood pyre was erected and ~215 unrepentant believers climbed on and perished in the flames.
