I just had the idea to look if there's any games having their 25th or 20th release date in the next few years that I could add to my list.

And I thought I would wait another 5 years for this one because I had already missed the date by 4 days, but then checked additional sources for the release date on a whim at the very last moment before closing the file. 😄

@yora I have a curious relationship to this one. I love a lot about it. The gameplay is delicious (with caveats), the aesthetics are top notch, there are interesting ideas and characters all around, callbacks to Tactics(Advance)...

But they squander the potential of the thing with some really bottom of the barrel story.

"Shoud discount Princess Leia drop a nuke in the world's biggest city? What a deep and difficult decision for the one true and legitimate ruler to make!"

@VileLasagna That's fascinating. I think the story is one of the strengths that makes the gameplay bearable. 😄

It's not a great story, but I am comparing it to other JRPGs that I played.

@yora Haha. To me it sets up a bunch of interesting stuff and then kinda falls apart (evil twin, lol XD)

interesting that it's the opposite opinion on this one specifically, I got really into the gambit system and, in particular, not dealing with random encounters. Always loved JRPGs (largely for the stories) but always loathed random encounters

The whole chests being random thing, tho, that was complete BS (including the whole Zodiac Spear nonsense). Very "JRPG [Pejorative]"

@VileLasagna That is certainly true.

But I still think that puts it above FF13. 😄

@yora 13 is one of my blank spaces. I remember that one being pretty poorly received (but, honestly, seems to be true of all post 10 main titles). But Square REALLY insisted on it with two entire sequels

So I'm quite curious to give it a go at some point

@VileLasagna It has some moments, but not many...
@yora I mean, I've played 15. My eyes are fully lubed and known to roll freely without friction or issues for hours on end =P
