@CWSmith Drainage gutters exist all over Japan, and it's really interesting, mostly because we in America spend millions of dollars a mile to bury our drains underground where we can't see it, can't maintain it, and out-of-sight it, while Japan has these little-medium ditches that they cover with stone slabs and the water runs down it, and if a stick gets stuck you just *lift the slab* and clear the blockage.

Just shows how the simple solution is often the best.
