don't use the term "sideloading", it was coined by the industry to make installing arbitrary applications sound ominous and to justify their snakeoil security and taking away your control over devices you are supposed to own

just call it installing
@lumi
Unless it comes from the adb region of software, it's just sparkling software install.

@lumi

Downloading - from the wide network or other device to our device
Uploading - from out device to wide network or other device
Sideloading - from our device to our device or in local network

How I see it.

@lumi agreed. sideloading is when you run doom on the display of a heart monitor or something.
anything else is just sparkling installation
@lumi
originated as the word for loading apps onto your PDA through serial/infrared, but it serves the same goddamn effect
(justifying the corporate desire to sacrifice the customer's rights on the altar of Mammon).
@lumi running unapproved code on the device that you bought for your own money
@mira the crime of owning your own device
@lumi loading my phone up with all the apps 🚚
