"The Floor" from ITV. Rob Brydon asks people to Name That Thing. The best at naming That Thing gets territory on a game floor.
There's plenty of tactics, and incentives to stay and play, and a lot of quiz to entertain everyone.
And there are tweaks and twists within the format they've not used this year, perhaps saving it for a second series when the audience is more ready for it.
And the throwback to "Rave"? Kevin Goulad will solve the problems in your life.
"When it comes to making a good show from a halfway decent format, Rob knows a lot – some would say the lot – so let's just say that he knows a lot about the lot."
@daweaver I really enjoyed The Floor. Hits thatbright sort of level of thinking: either an Only Connect where you have to think, or this, where you don't have time to.
Although it hit that one pet peeve I have in quiz shows in that it thinks "Videogames" is a category.
When Television got split into seven categories (Sitcoms, Soaps, Friends, Cartoon Characters, Detective Shows, Reality TV *and* I'm A Celeb), music eight (Number ones, Hall of Fame, The Beatles, Rappers, Glasto, Eurovision, Pop Groups, Instruments), sport into loads (Fighters, Cricketers, F1, Teams, Tennis Players, Footballers) it feels like a missed opportunity.
Might apply for next year with something overly specific like videogames developed in France, or something.
