@sundogplanets ... Ok, so here's an idea: take astro image. Identify each streak (should be easy if timestamp is 1s accurate). Start recording GPU time. Remove streaks. Stop recording CPU time. Calculate GPU hours. Calculate marginal costs. Add overhead (staff, infra, etc). Add two zeros. Charge sat owner for "waste removal services". ?

Well, for me those "travelling stars" are just nice little guys, when I sit outside stargazing. So far I know it's childish, but it feels good then.
So those lines in your picture are just greetings from my nighttime friends 😉
Perhaps that helps a bit.

With just a hooman eye, not affected by light sources at near half an hour, the aurora can be seen like this: https://eugene-andrienko.com/assets/static/ladoga3.jpg

Last time we had these lights visible in Switzerland I was very disappointed to see all those nice pictures, but nothing with my eyes.

It took me some time to realize cameras are more sensitive than our eyes, with a loooong exposure.
