Holy cow! #StargateSG1 S5 E7 ‘Beast of Burden’ is a new favorite. This has all the hallmarks of great scifi including a very Trek feel. A GREAT Daniel J. ep too! SG-1 encounters a pre-industrial world using Unas as slaves & must decide what to do.
• The awesome Larry Drake as the heavy!
• “Why not? We’ve meddled in other societies before!” 😅
• Reverse Planet of the Apes meets Enemy Mine
• O’Neill’s change of heart over the Unas 💕
• Michael Shanks’ Jackson SHINES
• Plot twist ending!!
9/10
As good as E7 was I liked S5 E8 ‘The Tomb’ of #StargateSG1 even more. SG-1 teams up with a squad of Russians to explore an ancient alien temple & learn their comrade’s fate.
Holy cow the set design was AMAZING! Totally impressive on a TV budget. Creepy story and another one where Daniel is in his element. Just a really fun, Tomb Raider meets Alien story.
• Closed caption Russian: “Holy shit.” You can say that again. 😅
• Jennifer Halley as Tolinev 😍
• Perfectly timed escape FTW!
9.5/10
Oh no! The Cylons have infiltrated the SGC! If you took TNG’s Lower Decks and mashed it together with A Ship In The Bottle you’d get something like S5 E12’s Proving Grounds. #StargateSG1
Not a bad story, but just an entirely inconsequential one and helmed by C-level cadets who are not one tenth as interesting as those in Lower Decks.
- Non-surprise twist ending
- Extra grumpy Col O’Neill
- A very young, very unknown Grace Park
- So say we all!
6.5/10
Gen. Hammond just had John DeLancie’s Col Simmons arrested. Have I mentioned I love Gen Hammond? 😅
Somehow I don’t think we’ve seen the last of Q. #StargateSG1
When I was watching S5 ep 21 ‘Meridian’ of #StargateSG1 I had no idea this was the ep M. Shanks left the show. Daniel has a lethal dose of radiation & I fully expected him to be back on his feet by the end. Nope. Ooof. 🥺
I totally get why fans were upset when this occurred back in 2002. Daniel is the heart of the show he’s the REASON why SG-1 exists. He and Jack drove the plot.
Performances here, esp Amanda Tapping saying goodbye are incredible. A great but heartbreaking ep of Stargate. 9.5/10
Ooooh! New #StargateSG1 opening credits sequence to kick off S6, so PRETTY! Also, I actually like Jonas Quinn. Wide-eyed and green kinda like Daniel was at the outset. I wonder if he’ll join the team…. Hmmmm. 🤔
Also “Over my dead rotting corpse, General. Wait, did I just say that out loud?”
Gotta love Jack. 😅
I’ve been enjoying S6 of #StargateSG1 but E10 ‘Cure’ was particularly good. SG-1 makes first contact with a planet that’s been exploiting the healing properties of the Goa’uld, or so they think.
A classic #StarTrek morality play in every sense.
- Jonas continues to grow on me. He’s like a lite version of Daniel Jackson
- No shooting! Wow didn’t expect that.
- Symbiotes can reproduce asexually, but still have “Queens”. Huh? 🤔
- Non-stereotypical ending. Very cool.
8/10
S6 E20 of #StargateSG1 ‘Memento’ hits a ton of awesome notes & introduces new characters that I really liked. SG-1 and the crew of the Prometheus is stranded across the galaxy and they must enlist the help of a young civilization to literally uncover their own history to get back to Earth.
Robert Foxworth as the leader of the Tagreans does a GREAT job balancing diplomacy with the wonder of meeting aliens for the first time. Ep has shades of TNG’s First Contact. Hope we visit here again.
8/10
I’m well into S7 of #StargateSG1 and I kinda miss Jonas though it’s great to have D. Jackson back. E5 ‘Revisions’ is a little TOS ‘Return of the Archons’ and a little TNG ‘Remember Me’ but a solid, creepy bottle ep. where a town sealed in a bubble is slowly dissapearing but no one can remember it happening.
- O’Neill + kids = Greatness
- Village has shades of EPCOT’s World Showcase 😅
- Never beta test townsfolk in production!
- Love that alien planet day/night always aligns w/ Earth’s 🤔
7.5/10
Loved S7 E8 of #StargateSG1 ‘Space Race’. Wow what a fun episode! Carter gets center stage as she signs on to help an ally win a no-holds bar deep space race. All that was missing was Anakin and his pod racer. 😁
- Say hello to Murray for me!
- Gotta love those cheeky alien TV ads
- Very Babylon 5 feel
- Pretty great SVX for the day
- Thought I saw them pass Tom Paris in the Delta Flyer 😅
- Carter is here to chew bubblegum and kick space-ass and she’s all out of bubblegum
8.5/10
Yet another future #StarTrek Enterprise alum shows up in #StargateSG1 S7 E10’s ‘Birthright’. Jolene Blalock puts in an amazing performance as a strong Jaffa leader & potential love interest for Teal’c and I’m here for it. Great story (by Judge!), well acted and I hope she and her fellow warriors return soon.
- Daniel’s “non-talking” to the young sister 🥰
- Christopher Judge gets to emote and SHINE!
- Ishta kicking Teal’c ass six ways to Sun
- Dr. Fraser is right up there with Dr. McCoy
8.5/10
E16 S7 of #StargateSG1 Death Knell was fantastic. A cross between Terminator, TOS Arena & Patriot Games. Carter is hunted by a drone while the Tauri, Jaffa & Tok’ra alliance falls apart
GREAT Gen Hammond ep showing why I love him. A leader who cares about those under his command & takes charge
- Sam’s resourcefulness pushed to her limit
- Political intrigue galore!
- Climbing out of the crater formed when the toppled Stargate was activated!
- O’Neill & Carter’s quiet moment together 🥹
9.3/10
Three episodes in and #StargateAtlantis feels very… flat. The premise is interesting but the characters, at least at this early stage aren’t exactly likeable. McKay certainly is no Carter and the rest of the cast, with the exception of the Scottish doctor all feel like the supporting cast of #StarTrek Enterprise. They’re all just… there.
Will have to see if this is worth watching or not. The jury is still out but it’s def not as fun as #StargateSG1
S1 E4 of #StargateAtlantis ‘Thirty Eight Minutes’ is the first ep of the series I’ve really enjoyed. A team’s shuttle gets caught half way through the Stargate event horizon & they have 38 min to solve the problem before the ship is cut in half.
- Love ep centered around the Stargate itself like the #StargateSG1 black hole ep. Super geeky fun.
- Geeked out for the Apollo 13esque “work the problem” scene where they take inventory
- REALLY hope McKay gets less annoying/Debbie Downer 😝
7.8/10
You gotta love a good evil twin ep and S8 E11 #StargateSG1 ‘Gemini’ has it all in spades. Replicator Carter tricks the real Carter into helping her usurp the replicator leader & help make them invulnerable.
- Great job by Amanda Tapping playing both roles. Subtle differences & performances
- Kudos for not putting Tapping in an overly sexy, evil outfit. 👍
- Nice double twist ending w/ insights into Carter’s character
- Booo the missed opportunity to advance Carter/O’Neill relationship 😕
8.8/10
Any episode of #StargateSG1 that quotes Buckaroo Banzai is okay by me. I approve!
Strange seeing Ben Browder and Claudia Black not only together again but having to act like they don’t know each other. My brain is breaking ATM.
S2 E9 of #StargateAtlantis ‘Aurora’ was clever and fun. Shepard and team discover a sleeper ship of Ancients who may hold the key to defeating the wraiths.
- Finally a “holodeck” ep where main characters aren’t trapped. Refreshing 👍
- “Wow that wraith is HOT! Like really hot!” Duh, Rodney! 😅
- Rowan & Weirs’ brief chat about chess / abandonment was ROTFL
- Mitch Pileggi’s Col Caldwell is growing on me
- Love Teyla’s penchant for stalling technobabble 🤓
8/10 puddle jumpers
Holy cow S9 E12 ‘Colateral Damage’ #StargateSG1 is fantastic. The premise isn’t original (kinda like a mash up of #StarTrek Voyager’s ‘Ex Post Facto’ where Paris is forced to relive brutal memories + Minority Report) but Ben Browder’s acting here is amazeballs.
He never got close to this intensity on Farscape and the man can ACT. Just a great performance and a creepy dark story that pays off in spades on multiple levels. Kudos to Ben, the writing and the directing.
9/10
Okay S9 E13 ‘Ripple Effect’ might be my new favorite ep of #StargateSG1. The amount of logistics, clever writing and jaw dropping character appearances is just crazy awesome. It’s like Multiplicity on geeky steroids. 🤓
9.5/10
I saw two separate references to Ghostbusters in my timeline earlier today and then tonight who shows up in the latest ep of #StargateSG1 but Ernie Hudson.
Some might say this is… spooky? But honestly, who you gonna call? 😅
Enjoyed S9 E17 ‘The Scourge’ #StargateSG1. A fun, creepy yet funny adventure w/ subtle character development plus a great guest appearance by R. Picardo
SG-1 babysits a group of dignitaries as they travel offworld when things go horribly wrong.
- Picardo’s Woolsy is growing on me like fun moss
- Teal’c & Cam’s apartment finding convo 😅 👍
- Love when a character goes through the Stargate for the 1st time (cue main theme)
- Five corn dogs, Teal’c?!
- Awesome Starship Troopers reference!
