Néfur is a vocalist, composer, and performance artist whose work brings the cryosphere into the realm of sound. Combining field recordings from glaciers with her rich, vibrant vocal palette, she creates immersive compositions that translate the movement, cracking, and melting of ice into music.
Her work explores the emotional and sensory dimensions of climate change, inviting audiences to listen to glaciers not only as scientific subjects, but as living presences whose voices are increasingly fragile. She has just been nominated as 'Performer of the Year' at the Icelandic Music Awards 2026.
