The #WinterWar, i.e., the #Soviet invasion of #Finland, ended on #ThisDayInHistory in 1940 with the signing of the #MoscowPeaceTreaty. This cost Finland half of #WestKarelia (#EastKarelia was already in Russia). It was in #Karelia that most folk tales in the #Kalevala were found.
The Treaty of Moscow was signed on March 12, 1940, but it came into force only the next day. So the 105 days long Winter War really ended on March 13.
