Old fishing nets converted into energy via "Green Plasma"

Last December, Italian scientists converted 200 kg of ghost nets recovered from the seabed into #syngas – a hydrogen-rich combustible gas that can generate electricity

Since spring 2025, Marche Polytechnic Univ. in Ancona has operated Green Plasma as Italy's first system for treating marine waste

Unsorted waste is shredded and heated to 1000°C, turning it into gas

@rafa_font burning waste, basically?
@ekaitz_zarraga well, yes, so it seems. "At very high temperatures" I would add (not sure if that changes anything). And the resulting "syngas" (that seems to be short for synthetic gas) is what generates electricity later on in the process, I guess by burning it. I don't have the knowledge to say more, your question remains open.
@rafa_font for me it feels like just burning it with more steps haha
But yeah I mean... if that's better...
