Happy to have written a preLight with @Co_Biologists covering two preprints looking at funding and publications! A data science approach to analysing #funding decisions and #publications in #biosciences, unfortunately I'm not sure they told me what I need to propose for a successful grant or how I will win a fancy prize for my work. A thirty-year trend of increasing clinical orientation at the National Institutes of Health; Prediction of transformative breakthroughs in biomedical research - preLights

Mirror mirror on the wall, what is the fairest funding call?

preLights
But I did learn bioscience has gotten more clinical, and publications are better organised by who cites who, than by disciplinary journals (although they do ok). Also, yet more evidence that journal level metrics have little significance when it comes to determining the quality of the work they contain. I am excited to later talk with one of the authors @kristine_willis to have an accompanying spotlight! (2/2)
@JontyTownson I’m excited for our talk too!
