I had a very long 12 hrs work day, yesterday. A client had to be transferred to hospital. I crashed out almost immediately after work.
I'm taking Mom to LifeLabs to get her blood work done for her nephrologist. Then I'm heading to hospital to check in with my client.
I am going to need a nap later today.

Just a quick update.
I'm crashing out after eating & washing up. Tired; work has drained me. I'm hoping to get caught up on sleep tonight.
Today, I only have enough spoons left to cook a simple family dinner. Made lemongrass chicken wings & am making watercress soup now.

I picked up a snazzy pair of shoes for Mom while in Chinatown, buying some food supplies. She loves them. Mom hasn't had a new pair of shoes in 5 years. I'm buying her some new sneakers with next paycheque.

I peeled mandarin oranges & a pomelo - juicing them. I'm drying their rinds by woodstove. We use them for culinary/medicinal/insects deterrent.

I'll update more on my thread from yesterday about my family's experiences during/shortly after US invasion in Vietnam on Saturday. That's my next full day off of work. I'm not on call that day either because I need a full day off.

On Friday, I'm attending an all day conference -> Transforming Together: A Co-Learning Event for Peer Support and Lived Experience Workers, Community Partners, and Interdisciplinary Team Members. I'm looking forward to meeting, sharing, mutual learning & walking away with some new, fellow community building collaborators' connections.

I just got a call from a gastroenterologist office. Mom is booked for follow up endoscopy on April 8th at Saanich Peninsula Hospital. I requested that staff who will be dealing with us at Mom's appointment to be masked up. The MOA said that will be respected. I said - Thanks, because I already lost one parent to covid & not OK losing another when it can be prevented if people masked up more. She then said that she understood because her Dad got really sick "when covid was around". I stopped her before she could finish & said - #Covid never stopped & people are still dying & becoming disabled for life from it. She didn't know how to respond for a moment - awkward pause - before agreeing, yeah - it never stopped πŸ™„

Anyways - it's booked & they better be masked up when we get there. 😷

I'll be ready to film if they're not masked up. There's signs at hospital saying you can't record/film inside. Unless you're filming patients or sensitive medical procedures without patients' consent, it's against BC Civil Liberties (I know the law), to block filming of your own/your loved ones' experiences in public hospitals.
I also know from experience, challenging staff. I've been told to not film in 5 different hospitals on Vancouver Island & once I start going heavy into legal jargon, they back off & leave me alone. #KnowYourRights - always.

*Same applies to police stations. Their no filming signs violate civil liberty laws.*

I'm tired but still hella protective of my Mom.

@PhoenixSerenity As you should be. Protective. Tired, not so much. You need sleep.
@mcourcel I brewed a pot of homemade chamomile mint tea. Bedtime is before 9pm, today.
@PhoenixSerenity That's the stuff!!!! Need to find me some.
@mcourcel I pick it from our yard/gardens.
