I think Judy Blume, SE Hinton, and Madeleine L'Engle are responsible for a lot of the caring and emotionally connected parts of my childhood development.

Certainly wasnt my fn parents.

Maltz Bovy and Oppenheimer seem to enjoy talking to each other, the dialogue feels unforced, and as readers / listeners, we get meaningful glimpses into serious questions.

[ I'm not a podcast person myself and was glad to read the transcript. I wouldn't have been patient enough to listen to the audio! :-) ]

It’s true that no one talks about Starring Sally J Friedman, and we should; it’s a brilliant book in terms of voice, characterization, and detailed evocation of 1950s secular Jewish life. It’s Blume’s most Jewish book and one of the best books about anxiety and the imagination of a bright child. Its protagonist shares much with the autobiographical characters of Roz Chast. It might be “good for the Jews” if it were filmed now.
