A final view of #VirginQueen with a new France player who insisted on prosecuting the war with England while ALSO spurning me, Spain. (He broke off Elisabeth de Valois' marriage to Philip!)
England player was new too
He proceeded to, against all odds, spring deploy to Calais, defeat the English navy, move troops to London, and take it. He had Treachery, so cool play. But he left Paris open.
And apparently he had a deal with the Prot player (veteran player) that he... would not rebel in Paris, lol.
That deal was not honoured
I lost control of the situation pretty quickly. Hawkins, who would have been more useful deployed to Europe and fighting off the French in the North Sea, kept pirating me
I ended up allied to the HRE, and Otts were allied to the Prots. (4-player game) Prot was immediately card rich and with the Ottoman hand too, was fucking me up on every front
Getting Istanbul was a little crazy and should not have worked but it did. Didn't win the game tho. Prots won by something like 11 points, end of turn 3
(You can see that I pre-empted the Catholic League a bit by declaring war on France and going for Paris; an alliance, for me to go to take the French capital and keep it for myself, was off the table. Sadly didn't work)
