Among one of the benefits of wearing a big honking Victorian floor length skirt with petticoat just because... Is how if you have to do a number of full turns to go back into a room because you forgot something once again, instead of an irate little stomp and shuffle, you'll be doing some grand sweeps as your skirt goes whoosh and the hems flare out. 💃

@sinituulia Glorious! I do love a swishy skirt. I do NOT love chafed thighs though, which plagued me even when I was skinny! But not for everyday - I tend to default to jeans.

(Now I buy ‘chub rub shorts’ - short tights that fix the issue without overheating me’.)

@GinevraCat I've been pretty happy with a combination of the petticoats and Victorian/Edwardian drawers, they tend to be comfortable even when it's Summer and hot. My sweating doesn't reliably work (often I'll overheat instead of sweating at all, which is terrible, it just doesn't kick in when it's supposed to) but even when it does, the layers are pretty nice! Nothing sticks to the skin or chafes, not unless I'm traipsing for hours in the sunlight in +25C weather?
@sinituulia My experience with historical dresses has been mostly at high temperature! Drawers sound like a good idea though.
@GinevraCat I don't like the feeling of the petticoats, the seams and the underside of the ruffles, against just my bare skin, so I'll always be wearing some drawers. 😄 Even if they're cotton thin enough to be pretty much sheer! There's usually a reason for all the layers!
