#CQWWCW contest results in. Analysing log errors, I see that my contest call is too short (EE5E), but also that there is long-time famous contester (SE5E) and many log their call sign instead of mine.

I confess I have made the usual 0/9 7/8 2/3 and L/R errors too often. Detailed log check reports are great tools to improve one's Morse code operation.

@Ea5iyl publishing errors is pretty instructive. Many stations copied R instead of F at the beginning of my callsign and U instead of V at its end. Many times I repeated and preceding my call sign with "de" ...

I don't know what to do. I did best to make sure I send it correctly ☹️

@F4LTV @Ea5iyl as far as I know, the only way to check is to record everything at your own station, that way you can compare the logs and the reported errors against what happened to figure out what might alleviate the error.

For example, my callsign, VK6FLAB, is regularly copied incorrectly on voice, sorry still trying to learn CW, but life and accuracy improved markedly after I used the phrase: "special call"

@vk6flab @Ea5iyl that would improve ony mistakes indeed, though I feel it would be heavily time consuming.

However I was pointing out the mistakes the other stations made on my callsign. For both R instead of F and U instead of V, they miss one dit at the beginning of the letter. I have loads of them in my log errors. This can't be beginner mistakes as speed was quite high ...
I repeated many many times during the contests.
I'm really confused on that.

@vk6flab @Ea5iyl Or was I contesting with autonomous bots ? That would be even more worrying ...
@F4LTV @vk6flab Contest speeds are far from my comfort speeds. My copying involves a lot of guessing...

@F4LTV @Ea5iyl when I use vox during a contest, often the first syllable is missing due to a slight delay with the radio keying up.

I wonder if you're using an amplifier that might have a similar delay.

Another thing to check is listening to yourself using a websdr, perhaps it might reveal if the dit is missing at your end, or at their end.

@vk6flab @F4LTV Interesting. I was working QRP, but I wonder if there's a similar technical problem. I'll double check.
@F4LTV Many mistakes occur. I am not a contest expert, and I did copy HB9RAP for HB9FAP, similar to the problem you report — quite a strange error, as dits are more often lost at the end of letters than at the beginning. I'm sure you sent your call well, but QRM or QRM ate that initial dit.
