I want to try and use Linux but I'm a total noob, and never used it before.

@portunyol Choose something more common as a first attempt. Fedora, Ubuntu, maybe OpenSUSE. These have big helpful communities that you can tap, and have been tested on more combinations of hardware.

Having into account the numbers of the community I'd choose Ubuntu or Mint. And maybe when or If I get advanced Fedora.

@portunyol In my experience, the biggest problem that people have is some obscure piece of hardware not working correctly. That’s where having a big community really helps. Most stuff “just works”, but when you scale that out to millions of users, someone is going to have a combination that will cause problems.

This article is misleading... Dont spill your time with ubuntu or zorin... Try linux mint debian edition if you want a distro for noobs + huge community.

Mint has become what ubuntu should have been (and failed because they preferred to have a stable release rythm instead of benefitting natural debian stability and build on it).

Vanilla Debian 13 is also worth a try... and of course #mageia10 when it's released 😇
