<insert eyeroll here>

"...The company said the vehicle stopped more than 2.5 meters before the train tracks, after the stop arm, and ultimately it was determined the vehicle was a safe distance away from the tracks...."

I'm thinking they need to work on train tracks.

@ai6yr

maybe they fed the software the trolley problem and it made the wrong decision. ;)

@paul_ipv6 I mean, I'd trust a Waymo way more than a Tesla (or a Tesla taxi). But, definitely too close of a call there.

@ai6yr

you couldn't get me to ride in a driverless tesla or a waymo

@ai6yr Ridiculous comments excusing it by the professor brought in as expert. I'm guessing he's invested in robocar companies.
@scott Yeah, or a fanboy.
@ai6yr Precision terror by Tesla. “You were past the safety arm, but the train would’ve barely nicked you. Stop screaming”… and technically, the woman in Houston whose vehicle tried to fling her over the overpass but was stopped by the stanchion, gives them the out of “Your vehicle stopped safely enough and prevented you from going over the barrier, so all good, yes?”
@ai6yr “self driving relies on safe stops: Brakes, parking brakes, walls, stanchions, other vehicles Definition of safe stops: You lived, you didn’t die instantly. All systems performed as expected. The rest subject to arbitration.” Always read the fine print in EULAs.
@ai6yr
"We are fixing it of course, but this is also very normal and safe driving which any human would have done in the same sitution. And it doesn't count anyhow since no one was in the car and it didn't derail any trains (this time)." 🤡
@me_valentijn LOL their "well, nobody died/no trains derailed" comment...
@ai6yr I think this is at least the second time something like this has happened. *sigh*
@ai6yr it's probably not a good spot for a charging station.
