It’s no secret I’ve been working on some sort of music app for iOS, but I’m making it official.

Say hello to Groove. A local-first music player for people who love music. Coming soon!

Most importantly, full credit for the name Groove goes to @davidbures

Groove - Local Music Player

Also, fun fact for the #webdev folks, the landing site is the first Svelte project I’ve shipped. 😎
@ghalldev ooo, this is right up my alley! Excited to try it out when the time comes 🤩
@jaredwhite Thanks! Shouldn’t be too long, I’m in the bug fix and polish stage. 🙂
@ghalldev hope that you did not forget about Linux users and that we can also transfer our music to Groove.
@chiefbongo I don’t see any reason why it wouldn’t work. But that’s something I could easily test in a VM. What’s your setup? What do you use to connect to your iPhone on Linux?

@ghalldev

you can't really connect an iPhone to Linux - well, you can connect via a cable and browse photos and files, but that is about it. No backups/music possible - Apple has for years deliberately made it difficult for Linux users - I guess to push Mac.

@Away No, but I can investigate what it might take to implement it in the future.

You can access network shares through the Files app and copy music over that way. That’s been my main method of getting music into the app. 😅
