Cost and affordability of plant-based diets: global evidence from 2000 to 2025

Plant-based diets (PBDs) offer substantial health and environmental benefits. However, their adoption remains limited, partly due to perceived high costs. This narrative review synthesizes current evidence on the cost and affordability of PBDs

A "problem" with reviews is that they look back (here all the way to 2000). Some of the "expensive specialty products" in plant-based diets mentioned by the authors have since reached price parity with animal products, i.e. plant-based diets cost less and less (while their quality improves).
