Trump's calculation is that Americans won't stand up and put their bodies on the line. That comfort, division, and fear will hold. That nobody will actually take to the streets in numbers large enough to matter. That the military won't fracture.
He might be right. He might not be.
In this game the next move isn't yours or mine it's whether enough Americans en masse decide that losing democracy and freedom permanently is worse than the cost of stopping it. That calculation hasn't been made yet.
But the window for making it is not infinite. In this game it never is.
