L'Unità: Crans Montana: altri cinque indagati per la strage del Constellation, anche il sindaco Nicolas Féraud

Anche il sindaco di Crans-Montana, Nicolas Féraud, tra i cinque nuovi indagati nell’inchiesta sulla strage del Le Constellation, il locale andato a fuoco nel cantone vallese della Svizzera provocando 41 morti e 115 feriti, tutti giovanissimi. Finora gli indagati per incendio, omicidio e lesioni colpose erano i coniugi Jacques e Jessica Moretti, proprietari del discobar teatro della tragedia, Christophe Balet, responsabile della sicurezza pubblica del Comune di Crans-Montana, e il suo predecessore, Ken Jacquemoud.
Il quotidiano 24 Heures ha riportato di una denuncia penale presentata a fine gennaio contro il sindaco da parte degli avvocati di uno dei feriti, gravemente ustionati, e dei genitori. Féraud sarebbe accusato di lesioni personali colpose, messa in pericolo della vita altrui tramite dolo diretto, incendio doloso colposo e una serie di violazioni delle responsabilità e dei doveri imposti dalla legge ai comuni, in particolare dalla legge sulla protezione contro gli incendi e gli elementi naturali.
Gli altri nuovi indagati – tutti con ruoli nell’amministrazione – sono Kévin Barras, consigliere in giunta con incarichi sulla sicurezza, oggi deputato supplente nel Parlamento vallese, Pierre Albéric Clivaz, Rudy Tissières e Baptiste Cotter, tutti con passate o attuali deleghe sui controlli tra Crans e Chermignon, municipio poi annesso al primo.
Già nelle prime conferenze stampa Féraud parlò di come dal 2019 al 2025 non ci fossero stati controlli alle misure di sicurezza all’interno del locale. Sia Balet che Jacquemod avevano parlato di personale insufficiente per eseguire tutte le ispezioni presso i locali della località. Il successivo controllo al Le Constellation era stato programmato per il 2026.

Crans Montana: Another Five Investigated for the Constellation Massacre, Including Mayor Nicolas Féraud

Mayor of Crans-Montana, Nicolas Féraud, is among the five new individuals investigated in the investigation into the Le Constellation massacre, the nightclub that went up in flames in the Valais canton of Switzerland, causing 41 deaths and 115 injuries – all young people. Until now, those investigated for arson, murder, and negligent injury were the Moretti couple, owners of the disco theater where the tragedy occurred, Christophe Balet, head of public safety for the municipality of Crans-Montana, and his predecessor, Ken Jacquemoud.

The 24 Heures newspaper reported a criminal complaint filed at the end of January against the mayor by the lawyers of one of the injured, severely burned, and their parents. Féraud is accused of negligent injury, endangering the lives of others through direct intent, negligent willful arson, and a series of violations of the responsibilities and duties imposed by law on municipalities, particularly the fire protection law and the law on natural hazards.

The other new individuals investigated – all with roles in administration – are Kévin Barras, councilor in the executive committee with responsibilities for security, now a temporary deputy in the Valais Parliament, Pierre Albéric Clivaz, Rudy Tissières and Baptiste Cotter, all with past or current mandates on inspections between Crans and Chermignon, then attached municipality to the first.

As early as the first press conferences, Féraud spoke about how there had been no security checks at the venue from 2019 to 2025. Balet and Jacquemod had also spoken of insufficient staff to carry out all inspections of the facilities in the area. The subsequent inspection of Le Constellation had been scheduled for 2026.
