It is well documented that Trump lies, Netanyahu lies, and Iranian leaders lie.

But there is a worrying pattern in western media, where what Iran says is portrayed as doubtful, while messages from Trump or Netanyahu are presented as fact.

Headline 1: It is presented as a fact, that Iran has killed 9 people in Israel, because Israel says so.

Headline 2: When the US bombs a school, it is only something "Iran says", as if it is doubtful. There is plenty of documentation, so why this wording?

@randahl Slanted news. Just look who owns the outlet.
@randahl
The BBC has been doing this throughout the Gaza genocide.
@randahl brother there is no question u.s. communications are way more transparent than the iranian ones
@randahl
And almost 200 becomes "dozens".

@randahl
I agree with what you say, but you may be pushing this specific example a little harder than it can bear:

Western journalists are able to travel pretty freely in Israel. Documenting the strike is easy. There are hardly anyone likely to strike like that except Iran.

In the Iranian strike, it could be either US or Israel. Few independent journalists on the ground. We now know it was the US, but those headlines are not from today.

@randahl
Surprisingly, I've noticed a similar thing from Danish TV2 nyhederne (website).

Ukraine news often have "Zelensky claims" in the headline.

But then there is an article presenting something from the Russian side as facts, unless you read all the way to the bottom, where it has "according to Medvedev".

Somehow, western media printing US propaganda seems less surprising than that.

(And to get back to the school bombing, unless I missed a headline, TV2 hasn't noticed it happened yet. Perhaps they are still trying to decide whether to print US or Russian propaganda).

@randahl
NYT is lining for birdcage status now.
shameful
@randahl Another great reason to support your local Library.

@randahl

It's the Nazi Times.

They have form to sanewash the pedophile fascist.

@randahl about Minab there is no doubt whatsoever
@randahl that's because most of the big media is owned by right wing entities, for whom if you say anything anti Israel or anti Netanyahu you are automatically labelled an anti Semite.
@randahl because mainstream media is not free anymore and tightly knit with politics (Rupert Murdoch / Washington Post anyone?). They drive the narrative benefiting their pockets best.

@randahl

One of the minor consolations of mainstream media being monopolised by hard-right propagandists is that their arrogance prevents them from recognising when no one believes them anymore and the bias becomes counter-productive.

@randahl #bellicat showed evidence. #ScottRitter on youtube spoke about it and explained how tomahawks used. Also #PeteHegseth overruled a #biden decision that not ai alone decide but must looked by a human. #warcrimes #WarOnIran
