Outside mainland Stavanger islands are decorating the fjords. Some of them are their own administrative unit, some belong to the same municipality as the town.
There are bridges, ferries and tunnels over and under the sea, and the network works very well for island hopping, with a bike, on foot, with car - going from on spectacular mountain top to another, one windy beach to another.

I have two favorite islands I visit often, for hiking, cycling, berry picking, mushroom hunting, swimming and treasure hunting as in foraging. The naust in the photo is one of them, Hundvåg.
The naust, the boathouse, is an integral part of any coastal place in Norway. Some are small and hardly in use anymore, or have become a small cabin. Some have become art. Luckily, most of them are still used - because so many still own a boat.

Himmel så vackert. 😍
