Hypixel Skyblock hooked me, and it made me understand why some people like Genshin Impact.

I saw people play it and it seems boring. Grinding, grinding, grinding. So repetitive, so tiring. Surely I won't play these kind of games.

Then, I discovered Hypixel Skyblock. And, here I am, somehow hooked on it, spent hours on it, installed legal mods, asked LLM bots to understand the mechs, and somehow I'm already level 90.

And it's the same thing. Same as Runescape. Same as those idle games.

Maybe it's because you can flex?
Maybe it's because of power fantasy?
Maybe it's because of "number go up"?
Maybe it's because you get what you do, guaranteed?
Maybe it's because the tasks are small, every achievement hits you with dopamine?

Maybe it's because of all of them?

One thing I also realise is that it's not like those faction, SMP, and/or anarchy servers where building bases are one big part of the game, or creative servers, where it's basically a media to unleash your full creativity with blocks.

Hypixel Skyblock is straight up RuneScape. You grind skills and get good stuff so you can beat that big boss. Almost no thought on building bases and stuff (the Skyblock part). The "placing blocks" mechanic in Minecraft is merely a media to grind.

For the note, I don't want this to be an anchor of my life. This is not a call for help, and I just need something distracting so that I can gaze away from this.

I don't want to get addicted to dungeoneering. I haven't touched it, but I don't want also to get addicted to that.
