Thank you for sharing your work! Yes, I found it was a bit of an adjustment - and a bit more effort at the beginning - coming from the algorithm-driven platforms.

Still, I think it was worth that bit of getting used to, and now I think I can say I have a much healthier approach to social media - and it's also all so much more *wholesome* 😊

Welcome! One tip I would like to give any new people in the Fediverse is to spend some time searching for an instance (server) that will give you the best experience. For most people that means a small to medium size instance specifically intended for people with whom you have something in common. The Fediverse has no algorithm - the other people on your instance are your algorithm. On a large general purpose instance like mastodon.social, your local feed will be "low quality" and hard to follow. On mastodon.art for example, with mostly artists and art enthusiasts, the local feed will be slower and contain lots of art. Or for example if you're a queer techie you might want to go to tech.lgbt, if you're a tabletop games aficionado then dice.camp could be your jive, if you're a radical leftist activist then give todon.eu or kolektiva.social a try... And if you're a trans person who likes shark plushies then blahaj.zone is perfect. A nice thing about the Fediverse is that you can move your account, so if you're not quite happy with where you're at now, you can move to another instance. I have moved my account twice, first from mastodon.lol to todon.nl and later from todon.nl to blahaj.zone - so do take your time to look around where your tribe is hanging out and join them there!

@celi52 yep. That's most of what it's like here. Loads of ordinary people posting ordinary things. Be profligate with your follows to start with, you can remove any follows later without anyone thinking they've done anything. Mute or block anyone for any reason, including your own mental health. Follow any hashtags for your interests. Set up a mute or block on other hashtags. And enjoy.
