TomI saw the Batman Hoverfly today. Thought it was a honeybee in the shed looking for something dusty to collect and pass off as pollen but it was the big hoverfly.

Hiland Overgaard@firephoto I've spotted these a few times in our yard late summer. My phone app always surprises me with news that it's not a bee. Maybe appearing like a bee keeps it from being targeted by humans?
@hilandovergaard Maybe. I don't think I've seen one on a flower or plant but maybe they just blend in with the honey bees.
