How is this not resulting in an immediate referral to The Hague?

Outright murder by a national military.

There was, and still is, no declared war between the USA and Iran, the Iranian ship was unarmed and defenceless, no succour was offered for survivors, and the action took place in international waters.

This action was every bit as bad as the attack on Pearl Harbour.

The USA is a rogue, pariah state run by a Congress and Executive who are criminals.

#USPol
#Iran #India

Has there been war with #Venezuela, #Colombia, #Paname, more than 10 boats were attacked and crews (120? people) civilians, murdered, ... not a gram of evidence they were carrying anything illegal, like if there IS anything illegal in international waters. No weapons, no resistance, no boarding and inspecting, just fire at will from a distance. Call him Cpt. Orange Crook ...

3 tankers hit by torpedoes in the Black Sea off the coast of Turkey ... the Ukrainians did it. Iranian ships chased and confiscated in the Med. sea in the past couple of years ..

Who the hell is the Hague? An instrument for when the US/UK/France/Gemrany want to punish someone and dress it up as a legal process.

Call it zionism, anglo-saxon terrorism whatever .... when the cat is gone the mice are jumping around.

@PeterLG

@PeterLG that’s outright incompetence by the Iranians if true — and I doubt that it is. I am unaware of *any* warship that leaves port without ammunition. Who does this? Second, if you don’t have any ammunition why the fuck are you leaving port to return back through an active war zone? After days of watching the ships get sunk, what exactly did you think was going to happen? Third, how would anyone know that it didn’t have any ammunition? It’s all held inside.

I’m all for criticizing the United States here, but this really a stupid take.

You might as well say, “When you don’t think about it, a school and a warship are exactly the same thing.”

@jonathankoren @PeterLG I see other apologists of the US army on Youtube and X saying the same: "Oh of course it was armed, this proves you don't know anything about war" argument.

Well sure, let's say that it was armed. Do you still see how horrible it is?

I think all it proves is that you're not very serious about questioning the murder of 130+ people at sea, left to drown. No warning calls made to the coast guard to show respect of enemy military colleagues. This is barbarism, nothing else.

@jonathankoren @PeterLG This cheap/cynical mass-murder alone cost 8x the amount of lives that the US, the aggressor and instigator, has suffered in total. This is almost cost-free for "no-boots" US. And because the US is lead by a criminal, there's no moral restraints. The only restraint possible is one that a true criminal can understand.

They'll happily murder many many thousands and displace millions. We know. That's why we're objecting and using simple, materialized evidence.

@benjaoming @PeterLG is it barbaric? Is it murder? Is it senseless? Yes. That’s what war is.

As for the coast guard, you mean the Sri Lankan one? The one that showed up on its own?

I don’t know why you’re intent on trying hold one side blameless. If the Iranians were good at their job, they would have sunk the submarine

To be honest, you sound like you have a childlike naïveté

@jonathankoren @PeterLG "To be honest, you sound like you have a childlike naïveté"

great argument, the lack of respect is now mutual.

I think you're normalizing acts of barbaric over-powering and annihilation of the enemy. It's not just war. And you're not trying to hold the mass-murdering side accountable. Unlike you, I'm not here to tell the dead Iranian crew that it's their own fault.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_Service-Members%27_Protection_Act

'The American Service-Members' Protection Act, known as the Hague Invasion Act...gives the president power to use "all means necessary and appropriate to bring about the release of any U.S. or allied personnel being detained or imprisoned by, on behalf of, or at the request of the International Criminal Court"'

American Service-Members' Protection Act - Wikipedia

@afeinman @PeterLG

Even simpler: The US is not a member of the ICC.

@PeterLG

I think its worse

Inviting an unarmed ship, and then blowing them up ... And the most cowardly act

Hugz & xXx

@MelissaBearTrix

The Yanks didn't invite them, the Indians did. Which doesn't make their behaviour any more acceptable.

@PeterLG

This was a war crime.

@xs4me2

"Can't have a war crime without a war!"
– Hegseth, probably.

Note that the Trump Administration don't use the word "war".

@PeterLG

You mean a “special military operation”?

@PeterLG it’s TACO again. Sneaky chickening out and then shoot ‘in the back’. Don’t ever do this at an Indian party!
@PeterLG The Hague doesn’t apply to the US (international law in general doesn’t apply to the US or Israel).

@aral @PeterLG oh wait, this also covers their allies!? So the US president is allowed/obligated to take military action to free Netanyahu if he's detained by ICC?

Like WTF, how are rich and democratic countries in Europe in a military alliance with someone who so openly declared "we're going to commit war crimes and no will stop us" already 24 years ago.

@benjaoming @PeterLG Don’t look too carefully at how they got rich or what they mean by democratic.

@aral

You missed my point.

Rulings from The Hague and the ICC do affect countries where the USA does business, including travel.

OK, but #UK #Germany #France #Israel are not?

The Hague is in Hague so others can be tried by the primary actors here, not the other way around.

@PeterLG

@PeterLG How does it not apply? Simple answer is the US doesn't acknowledge the jurisdiction of the ICC.

@PeterLG I grieve our president does not care about lives lost abroad. He doesn't care about lives lost of his own citizens either. Totally psychopath.

Flatter and offer something shiny if you want it to stop. You got any statues? Spray them gold slap his name on it. Peace!

@PeterLG want to know how much of a roque state they are? They don't acknowledge the Hague
