AGI - La spesa militare nel mondo cresce di decine di migliaia di dollari al secondo. Nel 2024 è stato raggiunto il record di sempre con 2.718 miliardi di dollari, cifra in crescita per il decimo anno consecutivo. Il 2025 è destinato a superare questo primato. E il 2026, con la guerra in Medio Oriente, toccherà il record assoluto.
Una prova visibile di quanto corra questa spesa viene mostrata ogni giorno al Palazzo di Vetro, sede dell’Onu: qui da anni è stata allestita una sezione dedicata agli armamenti e al nucleare. Attraverso un sofisticato software collegato ai governi del mondo, l’Onu registra in tempo reale la spesa quotidiana.

Alle 13 quella giornaliera, calcolata dalla mezzanotte precedente, era arrivata a oltre 3 miliardi e 900 milioni. Tre ore e mezza dopo era aumentata di un miliardo. E la cifra è cresciuta ogni secondo. A mezzanotte i numeri vengono azzerati, e si riparte. Per un’altra giornata di spese militari.
