So, that #Waterman fountain pen I bought for my mother shortly before Xmas 2007 that never worked properly...

...I managed to find it a week ago and I've just spent a couple of hours cleaning it very carefully. It must have had some dried ink from factory testing blocking the flow, because it now works perfectly!

And I've been able to identify it as being part of their #Hemisphere range. They still make the range, but not in this lovely dark, rich, metallic red.

@calum - congratulations!

@NullNoMore @calum

It is a good practice to clean your pens thoroughly before first inking, becuase oils from manufacturing process could still be present. Congrats!

@backtoanalog @NullNoMore Indeed! I've been slowing getting into fountain pens and quality papers for a few months now. All my new pens get cleaned before first use, now I know it's a thing.

@calum @NullNoMore

I don't have the patience for that. I just ink them up right away.😅

@backtoanalog @calum - I learned my lesson after a lovely light pink ink in a brand new pen was distinctly navy. At least I knew the pen had passed inspection.

@NullNoMore @calum

I am happy you did, but I still haven't learned that lesson. 😅

@backtoanalog Well, I may have just popped a cartridge immediately into the #Kaweco #Lilliput in brass... but I was working on the basis that they probably used their own blue ink to test it before selling, so it would probably be fine - or thereabouts!

On that note, I LOVE Kaweco's dispenser for half sized standard cartridges. But if they decide to make one in metal, rather than plastic, I'll love that even more...
