This single-vineyard Cab Franc from the Finger Lakes starts with minor green notes. The veggies are more aggressive on the nose, not offputting. Then, it evolves into a controlled, olive flavor profile.

The light and bright demeanor (with a touch of tannin) mostly makes it lively, persistent and most of all--silky & surprisingly fresh with a juicy finish. It's on the thinner side, but it's beautifully balanced, a perfect food wine. 12.8%. $40-ish

@MarkSquiresWine I've had some great wines from that region and want to get my butt up there to do some wine tasting. My favorite from there, that I drink regularly since my local wine bar has it, is Element. I had the pleasure of doing a wine tasting event there with the founder and really enjoyed it. elementwinery.com/

@hankg Chris has a creative mind.

As so-called emerging regions go, it's hard to do better than FLX. It's pretty and down-to-earth too.

They have a deeper bench, it's not just a handful of folks. People around the world are getting to know them. And then there's the old guard, like Wiemer, Dr. Frank.

Plan carefully--it can be an hour from the W bank of Keuka to the E bank of Cayuga. You don't want to flop back & forth. Seneca is central.
