There’s no school in Amsterdam today because Extinction Rebellion glued all the doors shut 😅

it seems the school nearest to us was not affected, but the community basketball court was full of teenagers, so I suspect another one nearby was. It’s a lovely day, kids, enjoy your luck 😂 Odin got a lot of pets on his walk.

(Public schools in NL are not attended strictly by the student’s address. You can generally choose from several nearby ones based on their specialties. So, the kids nearest us don’t necessarily attend the school nearest us.)

@0xabad1dea They know how to gain sympathy, aren't they? 😄

@0xabad1dea

Does anyone have any acetone?

Yeah, heaps. It's all in the chemistry lab.

@0xabad1dea We don't need no education? That's surely the best way to let young people learn about climate issues. Oh, wait.
@k @0xabad1dea missing a single day of school over the course of nine to twelve years is not going to have any measurable impact on the quality of a child's education
@0xabad1dea
US loser: machine gun.
Dutch hero: glue gun.
@0xabad1dea So the article says that in one school the students could get in through the bike parking. That makes me feel the need to issue the following safety announcement: You cannot fill a public building with people without first ensuring that there are working emergency exits. One door does not cut it.
@0xabad1dea Every single kid: thank you!
@0xabad1dea Wut? Why the heck?
@grumpydad so that the news would have to report on it

@0xabad1dea @grumpydad Several news outlets have explicitly said that they won’t report on climate and prodemocracy protests unless they disrupt.

If at least most of the outlets follow this rule, it not only means that it’s necessary to disrupt to get attention, it also means that people are only seeing the disruptive protests, not the many many more nondisruptive ones.

@0xabad1dea This genuinely feels like some PsyOp to get people to hate the climate movement. It's so ridiculous

@Purple

I bet the kids don't hate it (for the most part).

@0xabad1dea back in the day we would have climbed trough a window or another entry. There is always more than one entry point, they surely did not glue everything right?
@martijn of course not. School isn’t closed because it’s literally impossible to get in, it’s closed because blocking the main exits makes it a fiery death trap once you’re inside.
@0xabad1dea better not heat the glue then

@0xabad1dea

Getting people to break their own stuff is a neat trick.
