This is my monthly view up the allotment for the end of February - a bit late, I know.
A large patch has been cleared ready for potato planting later in March if the weather stays mild and reasonably dry.
The smoke is coming from my burner. New allotment rules stipulate that bonfires must be contained, so I'm using an old washing machine drum to burn prunings etc.
The garlic has survived the winter very well under the protection of the plastic cloches.

@elbowcrooker Our potatoes are sitting in the regulation egg boxes slowly chitting at home waiting for the right time to go out as well.
All busy trying to make sure enough space has been cleared ready for planting and getting the apples pruned before they start growing again.
We don't bother giving garlic protection and it survives quite well in an exposed allotment at the edge of the Peak District.

Hi Phil and thanks for responding. Glad to hear that you too are on schedule for the new growing season. You're right that garlic is perfectly hardy. I cover mine to give it a head start and because the cloches would otherwise just be in storage over winter. Good luck with the plot.
