@tautology my recollection of a Sharp MZ-80K, aside from a keyboard even worse than the spectrum, was the lack of any graphics capability.

@Wifiwits The 80K (and 80A / 80B) had a the same display code set; the only real difference was the the MZ-700 had a larger character ROM (which allowed the extended display code table) and colour.

This is the reason why most games for the MZ series sucked.

There was custom hardware for the Japanese 700 which replaced the ROM with a an extra board that allow custom character generation!
