Okay, what kind of idiot buys a Bluetooth-enabled, app-controlled pizza oven which has a "digital temperature hub". MAKE IT STOP!
(not yet AI-enshittified, though. Better get on it, folks!)

@3janeTA These folks are incapable of mixing flour, dough, salt, and water together?
WAIT, I HAVE A GREAT STARTUP IDEA
"AI POWERED PIZZA DOUGH APPLIANCE! BLUETOOTH ENABLED! MAKES PIZZA DOUGH AUTOMATICALLY CONTROLLED BY AN APP!"
🤪
@ai6yr @3janeTA Flour for pizza dough is much finer than all-purpose flour. Still at $2.19/oz, over $19 per dough ball.
It's only $7.75 plus shipping for 1.5lbs of pizza flour.

@rsanders @ai6yr @3janeTA
Where are you getting $2.19 an ounce?
24 dough balls weighting 9 oz each (13.5 lb total), for $99 - about $4.12 a dough ball, or $7.33 a pound of dough.
Assuming 75% hydration, that's about 7.7 lb of flour, effectively $12.80 / lb to get it already mixed into dough and portioned up.
Overpriced but not that insanely so compared to the (already quite pricey) flour you linked.
@CavedaleRhones @ai6yr @3janeTA I use Janies for a few reasons, and KAF is good flour:
Buying in 10 lb and 20 lb bags gets the price lower and I have freezer space to store.
I found their rolled oats taste better than Bob's Red Mill.
I like that I can mix their bread flour, spelt, and Red Fife when making bread. 6 oz, 5 oz, 5 oz. I like that flavor.
Their all-purpose flour makes pretty good gravey and red chile sauce.
I've got maybe 10 yrs left +/-, so flavor and enjoyment tops price to some extent.
Supporting a small, organic, farm is a fine thing.
Trader Joes sells 16 oz bags of pizza dough for $1.49.
https://www.traderjoes.com/home/products/pdp/plain-pizza-dough-092334
So buying the same amount of pizza from TJs would cost $20.11.
And yes I think it's even cheaper to do it yourself, though you have to manage getting the dough to rise.
@3janeTA @ai6yr Yeah, that's about 4 bucks per pie, but pre-made. The TJ's dough is a bit less than half that, but you still need to mix it.
There are times I'd rather mix my own dough, and times I'd be willing to pay a couple of bucks to just pull out a pre-mixed ball of dough and cook it. Convenience costs.
The goofy part is a Bluetooth oven. Using an app to do what, turn the gas up or down? I'd read those terms and conditions very closely.
I have to make gluten-free pizza dough from scratch. Even that costs far less than this scam.
@ai6yr
Just a reminder that your local pizza shop (local, not one of the chains) may sell you just the dough for a reasonable price. I generally make my own, but sometimes I'm too lazy or just haven't planned ahead. So, popping into my local for a dough isn't unheard of.
Now I gotta check out all star pizza bar in Cambridge

that's absurd
@ai6yr on a sidenote, making dough is such an incredible pain in the ass so a couple of our artisanal pizza places sell their dough and you just stop and get a little bit throw it in no worries and no mess. I am the figurative bull in the flour shop and cannot make dough without a hour of cleaning EVERYTIME. And no its not web enabled lol and if it was I would NOT use it.
These pizza cook fast and its not a set it, have a beer and return. You have to ride heard on those suckers unless you want charcoal
