which is why all the NLA spots have a looooooot more filled in for DE and in Blade Barracks I’m only missing an affinity mission where the recommended level is 80… technically I can do it now (cause I’m level 63 which is more than the cap in Wii U) but there are a few affinity missions I have left that are probably easier so… anyways Noctilum is also more in DE probably due to questing in DE… Sylvalum is also less in DE than Wii U probably cause of segment recon

and Cauldros has ended up the most done (non NLA) region in DE… because of a character that requires 1000 prerequisites to unlock INCLUDING Cauldros 65% surveyed… so yeah… now on to the actual Definitive Edition content first of all WHY IS THE NEW STORY CONTENT ALL “Chapter 13” like seriously why each act is about a chapter long anyways (I’d argue 13-3 is actually 2 but still…) it’d be one thing if XCX ended on a chapter 14 cause 17 is an odd number to end on and 15 is perfect…

I thought because of the reveal of DE showed a new area that this “chapter 13” was going to take place solely in a new region of Mira which would justify it being all “one chapter” but even that’s not true… and I gaslit myself into thinking there was no new region until the very end with Voltaris… speaking of… I think the area concept of it is great…

IDK maybe I’m just a sucker for the whole late game area where you lose all the things that that made you OP and have to recover them… cause that’s legit great granted… you get Elma and Lin almost intentionally early and then I found Doug early who I had as member #4 through most of the game so… still I can at least appreciate the effort here… and finding all the party members does give you nice rewards…

I also like the idea of optional battles that if done can make the final boss a lot easier but is by no means required which adds replay value to it… as for the final boss… NGL I’m not a fan of the stationary “turret” bosses where they just stand there making all arts that target the back or sides worthless… I think it might be Xenoblade’s “dragon” bosses to reference FE unlike FE’s dragons I feel like these “turret” bosses are just completely lame

and I’d honestly be quite glad to go one XC game without seeing that type of boss EVER AGAIN!!! Like seriously who fought XC3’s final boss and thought “oooh giant floating head what great design… cause yeah it REALLY felt like that to me… and also looked like Amalthus a bit too… but also just I didn’t like the final boss much I mean the design is… just the colour blue… like you can’t look at these and tell me there’s a significant difference you really can’t…

I also feel like it’s too difficult of a fight under the circumstances of you can’t do ANY sidequests until you win… granted all XCX story bosses are the same… but like at least then apart from the NLA invasion you could do other side quests or segment recon in 13-3 you can ONLY do things in Voltaris… which there really isn’t much when you got all the spears and characters I was like level 60 ish on my first attempt and I failed a loooooot so… yeah

after grinding my team to 62 and making a more dedicated build to fighting void (a second level 50 skell and focus on damaging augments quickly) I won easily and you know if this were any other Xenoblade game I’d go yeah the boss isn’t that hard but again it’s the whole can’t do any side content until you win so… as for the story… man I have to admit it was kind of lame…

I just… I don’t like the whole “Oh actually it WASN’T JUST Earth that blew up it was the whole universe” is just… lame like… you can destroy earth or the milky way galaxy and still wipe out humans taking out whole universes like it’s nothing just really makes the world of XCX just feel small… like what are all sentient lifeforms in XCX from different universes too? I just and the whole universe hopping thing is just really confusing…

and sure you can say “oh universes have been destroyed in previous Xenoblade games” but like no not really and even then it’s like what once a millennium in those cases like think about it Elma watched 3 UNIVERSES DIE!!! That’s where it just becomes too ridiculous to the point of stupidity honestly… I honestly can’t help but feel like chapter 13 was just monolith soft’s way of connecting X to 1-3 and not at all the original plan for a X2

and I think whatever the real continuation of X was exists in a timeline where XC2 didn’t sell as well and XCX was the best selling Xenoblade game… but then the ghosts and ganglion blew up that universe too… IDK could just be me or it could be the years of fan speculation trying to figure out if XCX has a connection to 1-3 making X2 live up to expectations that couldn’t be met…
