Y'know what, people give Deanna Troi a lot of 💩 for crashing the Enterprise, but

1. the impulse engines were cooked,

2. the inertial dampeners, if they're still even functioning, aren't gonna help much when you hit the ground that hard, and

3. if not for her slowing the ship's descent and belly-landing it like she did, the entire crew would've been turned into grease stains on what's left of the bulkheads.

She did good.

@argv_minus_one I've always been told you should always WANT to fly with a pilot who has crashed, because you know they know how to get down safely.
@argv_minus_one what's the line? "Any landing you can walk away from is a good landing "?
@argv_minus_one Peripherally-related: by virtue of watching some videos analyzing plane crashes YouTube now pushes similar ones at me, many of which are about a female pilot who went by TNFlyGirl who died in a small plane crash. It may just be the algo doing what it does, but her crash seems to get much more attention and opining than similar crashes by male pilots.
@argv_minus_one the maneuver she executed was straight out of the technical manual; her decision was literally by the book.
@argv_minus_one Deanna Troi (or rather the way she was written) deserves shit for plenty of things, but that is not one of them. 😅
