Russia blames Ukraine for attacking tanker that sank in the Mediterranean

Libyan authorities say a Russian-flagged tanker carrying liquefied natural gas exploded and erupted in flames before sinking in the Mediterranean Sea off the North African country's coast. Russia blamed the sinking on an attack by Ukrainian sea drones. Ukrainian officials made no immediate comment on the accusation. The Libyan Maritime Authority said the explosions occurred while the ship was about 240 kilometers or 150 miles off the Libyan city of Sirte. All 30 crew members were rescued. Libyan authorities said the tanker was bound for Egypt, but Egypt denied any links to the vessel and said it was not en route to any Egyptian port.
